Photo Frenzy

Here are some pics of the girls from the holidays.

Thanksgiving

Family Christmas Party

The Guppy had a blast with Santa but the Mermaid absolutely refused to even look at him!

I just love this picture.

And a random pic: craft time with Grandma.

And I Thought We Were Done With Getting Sick...

Alas, a stomach bug hit our house yesterday. Thankfully it only affected the Guppy, but I'm always a little hyper and nervous when the Guppy starts getting sick because of her previous hospital stay.

However, in terms of stomach bugs, this one wasn't all bad. She started vomiting at 4 AM (I had already been up for two hours, thank you so much pregnancy-induced insomnia!) and kept getting sick until about 9 AM. Then she fell asleep for four hours, with me nervously debating to myself whether I should wake her up and try to get more fluids into her, wondering if she was sleeping or if she was passed out like last time, and just in general worrying myself into a tizzy. Thankfully my mom was able to stop by with some nourishment and convinced me that this looked like a normal stomach bug. Plus, it was really reassuring to know that our new neighbor is a nurse, who already told me that I could call on her whenever I needed.

But I digress.

She woke up four hours later, told me she was hungry and that she wanted to play. And she's been fine ever since. Here's to quick recovery!

Once I knew that she was going to be fine, all that nervous energy I had bottled in me released itself into some kind of productive frenzy. I super cleaned the kitchen, attacked five loads of laundry, and super cleaned our bedroom, which was a complete disaster. So, it wasn't a completely wasted day.

I'm feeling more and more better every day (I love the second trimester!) and we are slowly starting to plan for the birth and arrival of the baby. We have a girl name picked out, have for a while now, but we remain stumped in terms of boys names. In the meantime, the girls are working really hard to keep me busy and on my toes, and I'm getting strong urges to knit and sew some cute baby things.

Today's agenda: La Leche League meeting, craft time, and more laundry. Dinner tonight will be Egyptian Lentils and Rice with some corn on the cob and a salad.

Slow and Steady

Slowly but surely I feel as though my life is coming back together. The laundry is almost caught up with and I'm getting ready to put the Guppy back into cloth diapers. The house is not looking too shabby, either, and I've been making real efforts to get out of the house.

Meanwhile, I've had one client give birth: a beautiful and amazing VBAC that resulted in one happy and glorious mama and one precious baby boy. She was my last client for a while: I've decided to take a year off so I can concentrate on my pregnancy and other things in my life that have fallen to the back burner. I'm looking forward to the time off.

The Guppy is getting big, and she's developing a big attitude as well. Having a two year old tell you "Okay okay, geez" when you ask her for the third time to pick up her toys loses its cute factor quickly. The Mermaid never went through a "terrible twos" phase, so this is new territory for me.

The Mermaid is still taking gymnastics and is loving it. She's also informed me that she wants to take dance classes, so we'll see what is available in our area.

That's it, for the most part. Hopefully I'll be able to keep my promise to post more often.

Hellooo!!! Anyone Still Out There????

Yes, I'm back. And yes, I pretty much fell off the face of the earth. And let me tell you, it ain't a pretty place to visit.

After much horrible, horrible morning sickness, losing 12 lbs, suffering from insomnia and horrible migraines, watching my house go to hell and the television raise my children, my wonderful midwife pretty much saved my life and sanity by giving me some special diet tips and telling me to get a prescription. So, off I trotted (as if it were really possible to "trot" when you have to pull the car over three times to vomit) to my primary and basically begged her to write me a prescription for Zofran. One look at me and she didn't need any more convincing.

It's been six days and counting since I last got sick. I still get nauseous, I still get migraines, but who gives a damn because oh Lord, I can keep food and water down! Yeehaw!!!!

I'm already wearing maternity clothes. I'm 15 weeks along, and my due date is July 4th. So, knowing my history, the baby will most likely be born a week later. I got to hear the heart beat, which was great, and I can't wait to hear it again. Or feel the baby move. Somehow it makes this whole pregnancy thing feel more real.

What else has been going on? Not much. This week, my goal is to slowly start to get my house back together in some order, catch up on laundry, etc. I'm hoping to be back to my long-forgotten regular schedule by next week. I can hope, right?

I do have pictures of the girls from Thanksgiving and Christmas that I can't wait to share. But, one small step at a time, right?

Hopefully, I'll be seeing you around real soon. If anyone is still out there, that is.
