And So, I Jump

I look ahead of me and sometimes, it is too dark to see.

I feel as though I am always trying to get my life together. Trying to catch up on laundry, keep the house clean, take care of the kids, remember appointments for the doctors, dentist, chiro...

I try to fit in time for me to breathe. I escape in my knitting or I run to the gym and get away for a bit.

But in the end, it's all waiting for me when I get back.

I can't keep up with this forever. Always wanting things to be better, more collected, less chaotic.

I have two choices: I can drive myself crazy trying to keep up with it all....or accept that for now, my life is slightly messy and full of chaos.

The first option means having the stress of keeping it all together. The second involves a messy house but happy and smiling kids.

I make my decision. And facing the darkness....I jump.

I have faith that I will land on solid ground.

I Got My Hands Chalky, Too.

Mommy, come look, we made the driveway colorful! Isn't it pretty?

I look at her, and yes, it is beautiful.

Encore, Please

On Thursday I attended my first birth since coming off my sabbatical.

I was at this couple's first birth, and was really looking forward to being at their second.

Mama totally and completely amazed me with the way she rocked a natural birth. Beautiful baby was born weighing 10lbs, 10 oz.

I came home smelling of newborn sweetness and on a birth high. I kissed the girls hello, cuddled with The Tadpole, and had a glass of wine as I thought about the beautiful family that I would soon be visiting again.

My job? It's not work. It's miracles. Beauty. Love.

It's Life.

I love my job.

Pinch Me

You're two months old now.

Smiling and laughing, you are definitely a mommy's boy.
You look straight at me, and it's like you are looking straight into my heart and soul.
These days, I find myself needing more me time. I have Grandma or your daddy watch you and your sisters and escape to the gym for an hour. But as soon as I get home, I walk through the door, sweep you up into my arms, and kiss you all over.
Because you? You are my dream come true.

Happy Two Months, little man.
